Stop doing this ONE thing and you will make more (promise).. and I can safely say that many of you reading this e-mail has either thought of doing this, has done it, or will do it…

You need to STOP GIVING AWAY FREE SHIT!! (and if you are not doing it.. DON’T START!)

Yes, it is that serious, that all caps represented me yelling in excitement at you…PRAYING you get the point..and that you can see I am very passionate about this particular topic anytime that I see it come up.

Every time you agree to do something for a client or potential client for free, you have done a few things:

1) Lost money (obvious)

2) Positioned yourself and your services as cheap. 

This customer will now expect the WORLD ON A STRING for free or only a few bucks.

Don’t believe me? 

That’s fine.

Go out there and start giving everyone free shit, go ahead. Offer free this and free that, and see where that gets you. It won’t get you far that is a promise. I even see some of you nodding your heads in agreement as you have “been there and done that” 

“RyMac, that makes so much sense, I once gave this guy a free website and now he expects my SEO services to be cheap, or even free!” 

It’s a plague, but it is not all of your faults.

You see, I have been there, I know what it is like to want to get that first one locked down and under your belt… I have fallen for the

“I’ll give this to you for free, but you have to pay me top dollar for the  next thing I do” trap. 

It just doesn’t work out that way. Going back to the car example I used in a previous e-mail, does Cadillac give away their least exspensive vehicle, in hopes that you are going to buy their most expensive vehicle in a few months? 

HELL NO. 

Why should you expect any different? Hell if you gave me a caddy right now, why would I come back and buy ANYTHING from you? 

I have no reason to… think about it.. do I? 

Nope. 

I see this day in and day out, people are trying to hard just to work in that first client, that they are giving stuff away for free, devaluing themselves and their services, ultimately wasting hours or weeks of their lives with little or no results or earnings. 

It is time you start learning how to make more per client, either current or future, in your business.

It is time you gain the confidence and understanding on how to do this.

We realize that many of you are not offering things for free at first. Quite the opposite, you are offering for free as your “down sell”. This is where you are losing future profits! The down sell should still cost them money! 

If these people are not use to stroking you a check every time that you do something for them, no matter how big or small, they will never want to stroke you a check.
