Did you know that in the Spring of 1999, I fired over 170 clients? It took me over a week to call each and every one of the personally but I did it. I fired them all.

Why? Well, there were a few reasons but the biggest of all was that almost every single one of them was a pain in the ass in one way or another.

But it wasn’t their fault: it was my fault.

I had “trained” them to be a pain in the ass. And ultimately, that means that I was my own pain in the ass multiplied by 170+.

Ask yourself if you’ve ever done the same thing. Have you “trained” your clients to pay you very little (by charging them very little), to call you constantly (by not setting boundaries), or to ask for freebies (by not saying no because you didn’t want to lose them as a client)?

If you’ve ever done any of those things (probably all of us have at least once) then you’ve trained a client to be a pain in the ass.
