It’s RyMac here, and I literally walked in my door about an hour or so ago from a 8 day trip up to Wilmington NC,Washington D.C., Baltimore MD, and finally back HOME.
The other day, I mentioned I was walking into a very important meeting, and asking for a large sum of money.
That meeting couldn’t have gone any better. It was about 60 minutes long, and I wanted to take you through the anatomy of what went down and the two words that actual sealed the deal.
In the room was my executive team, and their executive team (CEO, CMO, COO, CIO).
They had already received the proposal a little while back, and my team has already met CEO and COO previously, showed them exactly how messed up their online marketing plan was for such a “large” company and how far they are behind their competitors.
That is why the full team is here this time (including myself) because we earned a shot at impressing upon the whole executive team.
So to this point we had won over the CEO already. Now his Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) should be the one worried about the visit, because that position is in charge of their “internet marketing”, and we have already shown them how messed up that was.
Now it is our show and tell.
I got my creative and design partner showing off his portfolio, then we are about 45 minutes into the meeting and now I am showing off mine (SEO portfolio of all of my rankings)… and we get near the end and the CMO looks at me and says:
“This is great, but we don’t have the resources to do this”
and I just grinned and said:
“We do.”
And that folks were the two words that SEALED the biggest deal of my life..
It didn’t matter that they were all in suits and ties (including my whole team)…
It didn’t matter I was wearing sneakers.. with hot neon green on them …
All that it boiled down to was the fact that I have the resources to do for them what they can’t. The CEO already knew it, he knew we were going
to do well in that meeting, that is why he made sure his whole team was in there.
