stop looking at gatekeepers as ROAD BLOCKS… (how inside)
RyMac here guys, and I just got home from a fun little trip over to Myrtle Beach. Stayed in really comfortable suite,
and just was able to get out with my family and enjoy their company, it was a really good time.
I hope your weekend was enjoyable also.. but guess what?
Tomorrow is Monday, and it is time to get our butts back to work! I was thinking on the drive back (a little over 2 hours)
about some of the things you guys are looking at as roadblocks.. things that make you STOP moving forward in your business to ask a question…
Here is what I mean, a common road block I see:
“I don’t have an LLC, I can’t take on any clients yet.. can I?”
See how you have just stopped yourself from making progress?
I landed my first few clients no website, no LLC., no nothin’..I got to a point very rapidly where I just didn’t think..
I did.
I started making money..
…and THEN I said to my self:
“Well damn, I am making money..that worked.. I need to get an LLC!”
Worked out much better that way. Don’t you want to say something like that to YOURSELF?
I didn’t ask questions like:
“What about the gatekeeper, how do I get past her?!”
I just did it.. with out over thinking it to much. Now that I raised the question again, I mine as well leave you with a fail
safe way past ANY gatekeeper:
Make them your friend..
It’s crazy so many people have created (in their minds) the gatekeeper is like this horrible person.. and we must all collaborate
on how to trick them to get by them..it is kind of funny. (gatekeepers are people to!)
Don’t get me wrong, there is a time and a place to have concern for gatekeepers in your business and a strategy to get to the decision maker, I get that.. but I never see anyone ever saying:
“make them your friend!”
Seriously.
Making them your friend is 10x better than using them as an excuse not to do something because you are still trying to figure out the best way to trick another human.
By at least walking in and talking to them.. introducing your self…
Or picking up the phone and talking to them, introducing your self… let them know you are just looking for “first name here” after a second of small talk..
By at least getting familiar and used to talking to people on the phone, or in person, about who you are what your business is.. I can almost guarantee you by default, you will land a client.
Stop hiding behind your questions!
Just get out there and do it…
.. Sigh.
I see it in your face… you still want a super slick way to get PAST the gatekeeper anyways, don’t you?
